Project 7—International Youth Designer Competition

In August 2023, during the summer break, I had the privilege of participating in the International Youth Designer Competition (IYDC) hosted by Kent State University and the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology in China. Notably, I progressed to the finals, an achievement that filled me with immense excitement. On the iconic backdrop of the Great Wall of China in Beijing, we had the opportunity to showcase our diverse range of clothing designs.

I am delighted to share that this event provided me with the chance to connect with numerous outstanding designers hailing from various corners of the world, including Spain, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and many more. Over the course of three days, we not only competed but also engaged in enriching discussions and exchanges of ideas. Our esteemed panel of judges included the CEO of WWD, renowned celebrities, and distinguished professors from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and Tsinghua University.

This experience proved to be eye-opening, as it allowed me to gain insights into the unique educational styles and fashion trends from each participating institution. It was a highly motivating experience that has left a lasting impact on me.
